Content strategies found at Digital Signage Expo 2010 in Las Vegas

As a Workplace Communications expert, it was quite rewarding to represent The Marlin Company at the Digital Signage Expo 2010, held in Las Vegas end of February.  Following is a collection of video clips, taken during the show.

Typically, Marlin attends trade shows focused on a single market, such as Health Care, Safety, Human Resources, or Transportation.  However, this was quite a different experience.  We saw a mix of manufacturers and their reps, A/V Integrators, network providers, entrepreneurs, ad agencies, content developers, end users, and even job applicants coming to our booth!  It was great to have so many individuals stop by to visit from various companies and vendors we’ve come to know over recent years.

I was especially happy to meet fellow blogger and corporate communications enthusiast, Chuck Gose of Mediatile.  (pictured)  mark and Chuck Gose 2Chuck makes a good point in his recent blog about DSE2010, that in spite of the overwhelming focus on the hardware, the real value of this show was found in “content, strategy, or integration”.

In a conversation with Chuck he pondered, “should corporate communications have it’s own show altogether?”  I like the idea.  This could offer alot of extra value to companies address their own workplace digital signage needs by providing an industry forum where everybody from hardware manufacturer to software and content developers focus solely on connecting with  employees in the workplace.  How cool would that be?!!

Frank Kenna, President and CEO of The Marlin Company hosted several talks during each day of the Expo.  It was great to be able to attend and participate in one of his ‘Lunch & Learn’ sessions, titled “Effective Content Strategies for Digital Signage”.  It turned into a very engaging discussion with attendees sharing their own real world experiences.  Later, other attendees were overheard saying that they thought these sessions were the best part of the whole show.  Great job, presenters.  Hope to see you again next year!

    Mark,

Thanks for the mention and the post. But boy I sure take awful photographs. Other than that, it was great meeting you and I hope to run into you at future digital signage events.
